Description
Creamy Garlic Mashed Potatoes with butter, milk, and fresh garlic. A rich and comforting side dish perfect for Thanksgiving or any cozy dinner.
Ingredients
3 lbs Yukon gold potatoes (peeled or unpeeled) or Russet potatoes (peeled)
½ cup whole milk
½ cup salted butter
8 minced garlic cloves
1 tsp salt
½ tsp ground black pepper
Instructions
1. Wash and scrub potatoes, then cut into 1–2 inch chunks.
2. Place in a large pot, cover with water, bring to a boil, and simmer until fork-tender (20–25 minutes).
3. Meanwhile, warm milk, butter, garlic, salt, and pepper in a saucepan over low heat for 3–4 minutes without boiling.
4. Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot to steam off moisture.
5. Pour the garlic milk mixture over the potatoes and mash until creamy, leaving chunks if desired.
Notes
Cook potatoes until fork-tender but not falling apart to avoid a waterlogged texture.
Cut potatoes evenly for consistent cooking.
Do not overmix after adding garlic milk to prevent gumminess.
