Description

Smooth, rich Homemade Gravy with buttery roux and savory broth. Ready in 20 minutes and perfect for Thanksgiving, weeknights, and cozy comfort dinners.

Ingredients

Scale

¼ cup unsalted butter

¼ cup all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon chicken bouillon powder (or 2 packets)

½ teaspoon garlic powder

½ teaspoon dried parsley

¼ teaspoon black pepper

2 cups beef broth

Instructions

1. Melt butter in a large pot over medium heat.

2. Whisk in flour and cook 2–3 minutes until golden.

3. Stir in bouillon powder, garlic powder, parsley, and pepper.

4. Gradually add beef broth, whisking thoroughly after each addition to prevent lumps.

5. Bring to a simmer and cook 5–10 minutes until thickened to your preference.

6. Taste, adjust seasoning, and serve warm.

Notes

For smooth gravy, whisk flour and butter until no lumps remain.

Gravy thickens more as it cools; loosen with a splash of broth.

Double the recipe easily for larger servings.

Storage: Refrigerate up to 2 days or freeze up to 1 month.

Substitutions: Use chicken broth for lighter color; use gluten-free flour and broth for gluten-free.
