Description
Sweet, tart, and a little boozy, this Honey Bourbon Cranberry Sauce comes together fast and looks gorgeous on every holiday plate.
Ingredients
4 cups fresh cranberries, rinsed
1 12-ounce bag fresh cranberries, rinsed
1/3 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup honey
1/3 cup bourbon
2 sprigs fresh rosemary
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1 cinnamon stick
Zest of 1 orange
Juice of 1/2 orange
Pinch of salt
Pinch of freshly ground pepper
Instructions
1. Place all ingredients in a saucepan over medium heat and stir occasionally.
2. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for about 10 minutes until cranberries burst and mixture thickens.
3. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly. The sauce will continue to thicken as it cools.
4. Taste and add more honey if too tart. Discard rosemary and cinnamon stick.
5. Cool completely, then transfer to an airtight container and refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.
Notes
Add more honey at the end if you prefer a sweeter flavor.
The sauce becomes sweeter and thicker after chilling.
Serve chilled, at room temperature, or gently reheated.
Make up to one week in advance and store in the fridge.
Freeze for longer storage and thaw overnight in the fridge.
Use frozen cranberries without thawing. Add 1 to 2 minutes if needed.
For a smooth texture, mash or blend once cooled.
Leftovers shine in sandwiches, spreads, sauces, desserts, cocktails, and meat glazes.
