Description
A spooky Halloween Mummy Meatloaf wrapped in golden puff pastry with edible eyes. Juicy, tender, and fun for parties or family dinners.
Ingredients
1 tsp olive oil
1 yellow onion, diced
1 cup cracker crumbs
1 ¼ tsp Mrs. Dash seasoning
½ tsp garlic powder
¼ cup milk
¾ cup ketchup
4 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1 lb ground beef
½ lb ground breakfast sausage
1 egg, beaten
1 sheet puff pastry, chilled
1 egg mixed with 1 tsp water
2 edible eyes
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with foil, coat with cooking spray.
2. Cook onion in oil over medium heat until softened, 5–7 minutes.
3. Mix cracker crumbs, milk, seasoning, and garlic powder in a bowl.
4. Stir together ½ cup ketchup and 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce for glaze.
5. Combine beef, sausage, remaining ketchup and Worcestershire, egg, and soaked crumbs until well mixed.
6. Shape mixture into a mummy form on the prepared sheet.
7. Spread glaze on top. Bake 50 minutes.
8. Cool 20 minutes. Increase oven temperature to 425°F.
9. Cut pastry into strips, wrap around cooled loaf, brush with egg wash.
10. Bake 20 minutes or until pastry is golden and loaf reaches 160°F inside.
11. Add edible eyes.
Notes
Crescent roll dough can replace puff pastry.
Eyes can be made from olives, onions, or candy.
Let meatloaf rest before wrapping so pastry stays in place.
Use ketchup or marinara as a “bloody” dipping sauce.
