Description
Tender Salisbury Steak Meatballs in rich onion mushroom gravy made easy in the slow cooker. Cozy, saucy, and perfect over mashed potatoes, rice, or noodles.
Ingredients
2 lbs beef meatballs (frozen or homemade)
8 oz mushrooms, sliced
1 medium onion, thinly sliced
2 cups beef broth
3 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
3 tbsp ketchup
2 tbsp butter, cut into small pieces
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp Italian seasoning
1/2 tsp black pepper
1/2 tsp salt
2 tbsp cornstarch
3 tbsp water
Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish
Instructions
1. Add meatballs, mushrooms, and onion to the slow cooker.
2. Whisk beef broth, Worcestershire, ketchup, garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
3. Pour the mixture over the meatballs and vegetables, then dot the top with butter.
4. Cover and cook on Low for 4 to 6 hours or on High for 2 to 3 hours.
5. Stir cornstarch with water, then pour into the slow cooker and cook 15 to 20 minutes until thickened.
6. Taste and adjust seasoning. Garnish with parsley and serve over mashed potatoes, rice, or noodles.
Notes
For deeper flavor, brown the meatballs in a skillet before adding.
Use turkey or pork meatballs if you prefer.
For a creamy twist, stir in 1/3 cup sour cream just before serving.
Make it gluten free by using gluten free Worcestershire and cornstarch.
Want extra sauce? Increase beef broth to 2 1/2 cups and season to taste.
